Tried them all and now I found it!

I've read e-books on just about every device out there, while looking for the perfect mix of features to support them. I've gone from an ancient Palm III to all the Kindles and other readers that are out there. First, I must say my favorite way to read a book is via the treeware version - you just can't replace books. What you can do though is supplement them with a device that adds something to the experience that makes a device worth buying. For me, my new perfect device is the NookColor.I will cut to the chase and answer the question people are most curious about. How does it stack up verus e-ink? Well, as a user of many e-ink devices, I know all about how such devices as Kindle eliminate eye-strain. This was my first worry with the NookColor. As it turns out, their is a color/font adjuster that you can change how the books looks until you find something that is pleasing and non-straining to your particular eyes. Just what I've been waiting for!!

Last year my husband asked me if I wanted a Kindle, because I love to read all the time and I try to be eco-friendly when possible. I was intrigued, but my biggest weakness is magazines and I didn't like the availability or look of them on the Kindle. When the iPad came out, I was blown away by the beauty of it, but felt like for a few dollars more I could just get a whole new laptop and it would be almost the same size. For travel, the iPad seemed to big and fragile for me; I need to be able to jam all my toys into my backpack and not worry about them. When I stumbled onto the Nook Color, I absolutely flipped my wig and couldn't wait to get one! Full color magazines, that look just like they do on the newsstand! This could single-handedly save the rain forests - I seriously buy a LOT of magazines. I also save them forever because you never know when you might want that one article or photo again, which drives my husband crazy. So perhaps the Nook Color can save my... 5/5 J. I'm somewhat of a techno geek. I like new gadgets and i tend to ask myself how will this be developed over time. In the case of the nook color they got it right. The size is very good for those used to reading paper backs on the go or in bed just before sleeping. The LCD eye burn has yet to effect me even though I've already put in 6 straight hour of reading ( note: i do keep the back-light level very low ). It is fairly responsive to user inputs. Once you learn how to navigate around it seems intuitive. The magazine format is a welcomed feature. The reduced battery life over my nook classic will not be an issue. It has lasted 2 days so far with wifi off with the same use pattern I've had since i got the nook classic (it will need a charge soon though). Youtube videos work without problems but, hulu is non functional at this point although I'm sure future updates will fix that problem. The form factor of the nook color is the 2ND best of any e-reader i have held ( the nook classic... 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble Nook Color eReader (Electronics) I'm somewhat of a techno geek. Charging Up Beautifully!!

0 5/5 Payne (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pwr+® 6.5 Ft AC Adapter 2.1A Rapid Charger for Barnes & Noble Nook Tab Wi-fi Color Digital the Simple Touch Reader Tablet Power Supply Cord (! PLEASE NOTE ! Nook Color will not show the charging indicator while charging!) (Electronics) Although I was very careful with positioning my Nook tablet in a safe, non-obstructive location while in 'charge' mode for hours, the Nook battery remained low. I noticed, the metal tip of the original adaptor chord was loose and its wiring was visible (i.e., the end that plugs directly in the Nook). I used a universal adaptor (for cellphones) but it failed to charge as well. I then noticed that while surfing Amazon's website, the Nook requires a digital color adaptor instead. Since receipt of same, I am VERY pleased with its performance and the price is so reasonable. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 13, 2013

Works flawlessly on the original B&N Nook Color.

I bought this because my original B&N Nook Color power supply was falling apart on me. The plastic housing that surrounded the tip was cracked and splitting open, the USB was losing connection to the power adapter itself on the wall adapter and the heat output and constant whining of the original power supply caused worry as those power supplies have been known to catch fire.I set out for a better third-party solution and the Pwr+ series here was the most highly praised I could find. I really debated whether or not to get the L fitting version simply because i tend to use my Nook Color vertically while plugged in and I always hated how limiting the straight through adapter was. I decided it wasn't that big of a deal and went with the cheaper albeit less powerful option... the base straight through 2.1A model. My initial concerns came from reading the lesser glowing reviews like a person's connector kept falling out of the Nook Color itself as it wasn't tight at... 5/5 CoJo (USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pwr+® 6.5 Ft AC Adapter 2.1A Rapid Charger for Barnes & Noble Nook Tab Wi-fi Color Digital the Simple Touch Reader Tablet Power Supply Cord (! PLEASE NOTE ! Nook Color will not show the charging indicator while charging!) (Electronics) This power cord is almost as good as the original. It charges the Nook just fine. The best thing about this power cord is the price. If you've ever looked at factory replacement cords, you know what I mean. The only problem, as has been stated by others, is that it lacks the green/orange charging indicator. The Nook, itself, doesn't have an indicator and this cord doesn't either. Not a huge problem, but worth noting. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 30, 2013

    great buy!!!

0 4/5 Janell - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: eForCity Magnetic Flap Carrying Leather Case w/ Stand Compatible with Barnes & Noble Nook Color, Black (Electronics) I recieved a Nook Color for my birthday and needed a reliable case. I saw the price and added it to my cart because it was so cheap! I figured what the heck? I recieved it and was quite surprised with the quality. Of course it isnt real leather, but it doesnt feel like plastic at all! The sleeve fits and secures my Nook perfectly, so no worries there. However it does have a flaw. There is no cut out for the speakers in the back. I have to either pull it out or use headphones to watch movies and such. So if you use a lot of audio and dont like using headphones, this would be no good for you. Also, when I opened the product, the smell was horrid and really strong; like plastic and dye, but I aired it out for a few days and it went away. Overall, for the price, this is absolutely a great buy. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 21, 2012

    Cheaply Made

I should preface this review by stating that I purchased this product for my kids in order to help protect and differentiate their Nooks (I bought green for the 5 year old and pink for the 8 year old). The Nook and the cover were Christmas gifts and they do not use them on school nights when they have homework and need to be in bed early; therefore they have only been using them for less than 20 days now. While they do look stylish at first, they seem to be very cheaply made. The magnetic closure is very weak, at best. It does not keep the case closed as intended. The pink cover has already almost torn away from the rest of the case the green case is already showing signs of tearing as well; I understand that wear is bound to happen, but falling apart after 20 days is a bit extreme. Another reviewer mentioned an odd smell and I agree that it was not pleasant at first, but since then it hasn’t been much of an issue; however, I’d trade a smell for a decent and protective... 2/5 Kristen - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not perfect, but pretty darn close

For just under $10 with shipping, you really cannot complain much about this case. It fits the Nook Color like a glove, and the top latch seems to hold nicely without magnets. I do expect the latch to wear out, but if you treat this case well it will go far. The stand is sturdy enough to support the Nook Color, but it's definitely a cheap stand. But honestly, if you are looking for a case with a sturdy stand you should be in a different price range. It's a nice bonus feature that makes this case even more attractive. The color is nice, and I expect this case to hold up well. The ONE problem I had was when I accidentally grabbed the case up high near the latch. It came unlatched and all I caught was the flap, so the part with the Nook swung down towards the floor and almost spit the Nook out. Certainly my fault on how I grabbed it, but also the one time that this design is flawed. The Nook was fine (didn't come all the way out), but it was a lesson learned... 4/5 Bleacherbum95 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: iShoppingdeals - for Barnes and Noble NOOK COLOR eBook Reader Tablet WiFi, Pink Soft Silicone Skin Case Cover And Smart Headphone Wrap (Personal Computers) This product fits my Nook Color perfectly. I would recommend to anyone who wants a silicone cover on their NC.I had purchased another one that said it fit the Nook Color, but it didn't. There is a big difference. The old one gaped at the sides and allowed dust etc. to get in the sides, and didn't have a hole for the speaker or headphones. This one does not gape at all, it has the proper opening for your power plug and headphones and the speaker is not covered up either. The thinner silicone at the volume control and on/off switch is perfect.Definitely will recommend to friends and family who have the NC. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 18, 2011

0 3/5 ambersoda - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: SumacLife Pink Plaid Executive Book-Style Leather Portfolio Jacket Case Cover for Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet and Nook Color e-Reader (Electronics) The case is pretty, and it does a decent job of protecting my Nook Color, but there are definitely some design flaws. I agree that it's annoying to have the straps in the way of all the buttons (I can't even put the upper left one on because it will accidentally turn my Nook off and on) and the headphone jack; and then the speakers are blocked in the back so it muffles the sound. I chose this over a slip-case because I didn't want to have to take my Nook out of it every time I want to use it, but I have to do that with this case anyway (unless I'm strictly reading). Anyway, not bad, not great. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 19, 2011

    Poor design for Nook Color

0 1/5 kathenna - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Executive Book-Style Leather Portfolio Jacket Case Cover for Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet and Nook Color e-Reader (Electronics) I'm not sure why this item is marketed towards the Nook Color. The only good thing about it is that it secures my Nook from damage. The four corner holders (two on the left are elastic straps) cover my volume controls on the right and covers my power button on the left so I can't access any of the buttons while it is in the case. The back of the Nook also sits flush to the back panel and blocks the speaker so when I have the volume at max volume I can barely hear it at all.I thought that this would be a good cover for the price but I guess you get what you pay for. I'll be sending it back and will have to find a cover that works better with the Nook Color. Probably more expensive but it will be worth it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 17, 2010
