Tried them all and now I found it!

I've read e-books on just about every device out there, while looking for the perfect mix of features to support them. I've gone from an ancient Palm III to all the Kindles and other readers that are out there. First, I must say my favorite way to read a book is via the treeware version - you just can't replace books. What you can do though is supplement them with a device that adds something to the experience that makes a device worth buying. For me, my new perfect device is the NookColor.I will cut to the chase and answer the question people are most curious about. How does it stack up verus e-ink? Well, as a user of many e-ink devices, I know all about how such devices as Kindle eliminate eye-strain. This was my first worry with the NookColor. As it turns out, their is a color/font adjuster that you can change how the books looks until you find something that is pleasing and non-straining to your particular eyes. While I won't be able to read for five hours... 5/5 Raxxillion - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble Nook Color eReader (Electronics) I've read e-books on just about every device out there, while looking for the perfect mix of features to support them. Just what I've been waiting for!!

Last year my husband asked me if I wanted a Kindle, because I love to read all the time and I try to be eco-friendly when possible. I was intrigued, but my biggest weakness is magazines and I didn't like the availability or look of them on the Kindle. When the iPad came out, I was blown away by the beauty of it, but felt like for a few dollars more I could just get a whole new laptop and it would be almost the same size. For travel, the iPad seemed to big and fragile for me; I need to be able to jam all my toys into my backpack and not worry about them. When I stumbled onto the Nook Color, I absolutely flipped my wig and couldn't wait to get one! Full color magazines, that look just like they do on the newsstand! This could single-handedly save the rain forests - I seriously buy a LOT of magazines. I also save them forever because you never know when you might want that one article or photo again, which drives my husband crazy. So perhaps the Nook Color can save my... 5/5 J. Superior ebook reader/tab hybrid

I'm somewhat of a techno geek. I like new gadgets and i tend to ask myself how will this be developed over time. In the case of the nook color they got it right. The size is very good for those used to reading paper backs on the go or in bed just before sleeping. The LCD eye burn has yet to effect me even though I've already put in 6 straight hour of reading ( note: i do keep the back-light level very low ). It is fairly responsive to user inputs. Once you learn how to navigate around it seems intuitive. The magazine format is a welcomed feature. The reduced battery life over my nook classic will not be an issue. It has lasted 2 days so far with wifi off with the same use pattern I've had since i got the nook classic (it will need a charge soon though). Youtube videos work without problems but, hulu is non functional at this point although I'm sure future updates will fix that problem. The form factor of the nook color is the 2ND best of any e-reader i have held ( the nook classic... 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble Nook Color eReader (Electronics) I'm somewhat of a techno geek. Very cool

The NookColor meets my needs. I didn't want the size or weight of an iPad, and this promises to do everything that an iPad does... only more compactly. In fact, the only thing I'm waiting for in the NookColor is the upcoming upgrade that will handle Flash files. My spouse has the newest Kindle, and is content with it, but I don't like the fact that the Kindle contrast is still low and is not backlit. I love the NookColor backlit screen, and like that I can read in bed without disturbing my spouse. I've adjusted the level of illumination to practically the lowest level, and find reading is very crisp, clear and a pleasure.Although I haven't used my NookColor in bright sun, it's no problem reading in a well-lit room.I also have the Kindle app and the Nook app on my iPod Touch. Again, since it's back-lit, I find it equally clear. I bought the NookColor because I was so happy with the Kindle/Nook apps on my iPod touch, but wanted a bigger screen... 5/5 MahJongg Rave "MahJongg Rave" - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble NOOK COLOR eBook Reader (WiFi Only) (Electronics) The NookColor meets my needs. I Swore I'd Never Touch One, but I LOVE IT!!!

I'm a die-hard book lover, and I swore I'd never read a book electronically, but I started to open to the idea on my last airline flight. I usually travel with a 2-inch stack of printed-out pdf files, 2 or 3 magazines, and a few books not to mention my reading light, highlighters, and sticky notes. It's too much trouble to lug it all around, and now we have to pay for overweight luggage, so having one small tablet loaded with books makes sense.I've been looking at the iPad, but decided that it was too big, too expensive, and too fancy, plus I can't bear the thought of another monthly phone bill. I primarily need to have quick access to reference materials that I have on Word and .pdf files as well as books, and occasional web access. After a lot of research and playing with various devices, I decided that the Nook Color was the best product for me. I have been extremely happy with it -- reading from the Nook Color is a much better experience than I thought it would... 5/5 cryogini (United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble NOOK COLOR eBook Reader (WiFi Only) (Electronics) I'm a die-hard book lover, and I swore I'd never read a book electronically, but I started to open to the idea on my last airline flight. Wow - what an eReader should be!

I had the original Nook, had a friend's Kindle for a couple weeks, and now have the Nook Color. Although it's a bit weird to be writing a review of it on Amazon, I felt that potential Kindle purchasers should understand their options. The Nook Color is, by far, the best eReader I've used (including the iPad). It's not perfect, but it almost is. The LCD screen is very easy to read, which surprised me since I was a big fan of e-ink and did not like long-term reading on the iPad. The lack of need for a night light is great, and the software it ships with is lightning fast and almost bug-free. Really, there is no lag when I'm using it and the functionality (once you spend 3 minutes learning it) is near-perfect.BN is quickly catching up to Amazon on content...frankly don't notice a difference anymore. Plus, you can side-load eBooks from Google and elsewhere.I know this...I will never go back to e-ink again and love this screen.I also LOVE the... 5/5 JMK "jmk" (Rochester Hills, MI United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Barnes & Noble NOOK COLOR eBook Reader (WiFi Only) (Electronics) I had the original Nook, had a friend's Kindle for a couple weeks, and now have the Nook Color. 0 5/5 OhhWell - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: BIRUGEAR Black Dual LED Clip-On Reading Light and Cable Tie for Amazon Kindle, Nook, eBook Readers, Tablets, PDAs, Cell Phones (Personal Computers) This is a rather nice light, especialy for the price. I like that it has a spring loaded extention to clamp to the eReader rather than a clamp. The tension is good enough to keep it on through normal operation but a quick jerk will send it flying. The flexible stalk articulates easily and stays where you put it. The light is pleasant and there are two levels of illumination. All in all, I am VERY happy with this light, especially for the low price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 10, 2013

    Great little light

This review is from: BIRUGEAR Black Dual LED Clip-On Reading Light and Cable Tie for Amazon Kindle, Nook, eBook Readers, Tablets, PDAs, Cell Phones (Personal Computers) I've used a couple of other Kindle lights and this is my favorite so far.Two levels of illumination allow me to choose which I prefer. The spring mechanism snugs my Kindle keyboard model at just the right pressure and angle, and the flexible arm for the light works well and stays put. And even with three AAA batteries installed it's still a pretty light affair.I don't get what the blue velcro strip is for, though. Just a freebie gift? I think so. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 10, 2013

This review is from: ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Barnes and Noble Nook Color (Screen) (Electronics) invisibleSHIELD is the best screen protector for the Nook Color. Don't bother with the one B&N sells, it's garbage and I guarantee that you won't get it on without getting fingerprints all over it. The B&N one is sticky and attracts everything as you try to put it on. invisibleSHIELD simply uses water (comes with a little spray bottle). use a lot of it to make putting them on super easy, just don't soak your Nook though! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 10, 2011

    Excellent product

I can't say enough good things about this. I was skeptical about it at first, until my fiance bought one for her new HTC smartphone. This convinced me to pick one up for my Nook Color.First, anyone who had difficulty installing it did not read the instructions beforehand. They could be more detailed, but if the steps are followed, it installs very easily.Regarding installation: You need not apply a lot of the application solution. From what I can gather, since the back is already sticky, its only purpose is allow you to position the film properly before it adheres to the screen. This will also make it easier to clean up the excess solution. About 5 minutes after installation, it's ready to use. This product does not reduce glare, but it does not increase it, either. It does appear to "scatter" reflections slightly, since the surface is no longer perfectly smooth plastic. It is only noticeable if the screen is dark, and you look directly at... 5/5 Andrew (Kent, OH) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pwr+® 6.5 Ft AC Adapter 2.1A Rapid Charger for Barnes & Noble Nook Tab Wi-fi Color Digital the Simple Touch Reader Tablet Power Supply Cord (Electronics) This power cord is almost as good as the original. It charges the Nook just fine. The best thing about this power cord is the price. If you've ever looked at factory replacement cords, you know what I mean. The only problem, as has been stated by others, is that it lacks the green/orange charging indicator. The Nook, itself, doesn't have an indicator and this cord doesn't either. Not a huge problem, but worth noting. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 30, 2013

    Charging Up Beautifully!!

0 5/5 Payne (Danville, IL, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pwr+® 6.5 Ft AC Adapter 2.1A Rapid Charger for Barnes & Noble Nook Tab Wi-fi Color Digital the Simple Touch Reader Tablet Power Supply Cord (Electronics) Although I was very careful with positioning my Nook tablet in a safe, non-obstructive location while in 'charge' mode for hours, the Nook battery remained low. I noticed, the metal tip of the original adaptor chord was loose and its wiring was visible (i.e., the end that plugs directly in the Nook). I used a universal adaptor (for cellphones) but it failed to charge as well. I then noticed that while surfing Amazon's website, the Nook requires a digital color adaptor instead. Since receipt of same, I am VERY pleased with its performance and the price is so reasonable. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 13, 2013

RECENT UPDATE KILLED ANDROID APP FOR ME

0 1/5 Amazon Customer "Countdown Lady" (Bucks County, PA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kindle for Android (App) I used to love this app. I worked well, synced easily with my kindle, and was convenient when I found myself with a few unexpected minutes to read. The update that came out yesterday was supposed to just change the permissions. Instead it swelled the app to 25.75MB and it takes up way too much of the memory on my phone. I had to uninstall the app. Please fix,or make the old app available. I miss this app. It used to be 5 stars, now it's 1 only because I can't give it none. The app takes up mose space that Flashplayer and Maps combined. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 9, 2011

    Comfortable light-weight protection for NOOKColor

0 5/5 C.C. "r3ad3r" (Chicago) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Grey Black Limited Edition Stylish Sleeve Premium Cover Case with Aerotechnology Protection with Front Pocket For Barnes & Noble Nook Color eBook Reader Tablet / Nook HD + Includes eBigValue Determination Hand Strap (Electronics) This case is made of a nice, soft suede fabric, lined with a sturdy, bubble-like surface. It zips closed with two zippers to leave access to the charging outlet, and folds back completely making it comfortable to hold while reading in the vertical or horizontal position. Just a little bigger than the NOOKcolor itself, it is light and compact enough to fit in a large purse, tote bag or carry-on without adding much weight. A silicone "skin"-covered NOOK still fits fine in this case. The outer pocket is small, just big enough to hold a pair of headphones or the charging cord (but not the wall or car charging plug). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 9, 2011

    Not for older Nook owners.

0 1/5 Lee Knight - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: NOOK eReaders For Dummies (Paperback) The recently purchased Nook eReaders for Dummies was only for the new color Nooks. It was not advertised as such and was no use for the older Nooks. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 27, 2013

    Ironic

0 5/5 djs2032 "djs2032" (Illinois) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: NOOK eReaders For Dummies (Paperback) This book is great for first time owners of a Nook eReader. It is ironic that you buy a paper book to learn how to not buy any more paper books. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 14, 2014
