Chasing the Wind

Creator: Jean Boileau | 2008-07-07

That evening after the cats had all been fed the caregiver came out with a cortisone tablet to give Coby. She worried about how fast his heart beat; it didn't seem normal. Was it the pill or was it simply part of the illness.

About this book
Caring comes with a price. Often times the price of compassion is that of exhaustion and sorrow but caring comes with joys and celebration; celebrations of lives saved.Chasing the Wind is a personal look into my life as a caregiver, the hardships, the joys, tears and inspirations helping feral cats and striving towards a more ethical and humane approach to caring for these beautiful felines.

The Coby Kyros tablet offers a large screen for relatively little money, but it's a bad proposition at any price.

Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. I was looking for a ten inch tab, but didn't have a lot of cash. I already have the Acer Iconia A-100, which is a great tablet. But i wanted a 10 incher. When i first got it, it ran fine but there was no Google App Store, bummer, So I got the Amazon App Store. everything was working fine but when I loaded Netflix it didn't work, the app loaded fine but the screen would just go blank. I called Coby Customer Service and they said it was a problems with Adobe flash not running right? Anyways, with Coby you actually get a live person however, you may not get one that knows anything. So i looked around on the internet and found that this is a problem with the tablet. I also found a solution. A tech advised to reboot the system and erase factory files. Here is the message ---- "Power the unit off (holding power buttom) and selecting Power off, then hold simultaneusly back button and on buttom 8 seconds, when the android icon appears... 5/5 Janowbi - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 10.1-Inch Android 4.0 8 GB 16:9 Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen Widescreen Internet Tablet with Built-In Camera, Black MID1042-8 (Personal Computers) Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. great for certain things

This is for the 10" coby. I got it to replace the functions of an e-ink kindle. I wanted to be able to read books, surf some simple web pages, maybe check my e-mail and calendar, play some simple games. I liked the idea of a bigger screen that I could see page-size pdf (and maybe a comic book) on. It turns out that this tablet is fine for those needs. It actually seems made pretty well. The touch screen seems to work well - by way of comparison, I've had a couple of older tablet pc's, and older windows ce pda's, my wife has an older resistive touch 7" android, I have an android phone. So on the one hand I've used a lot of touch screens, on the other, I can remember when you had to have a proprietary batter-powered stylus to use one. So to me, the touch screen seems pretty good, but I don't know how that will translate to others. It is a finger print magnet and picks up smudges like mad. It is perfectly adequate for e-book reading and playing simple android games... 4/5 Darrell Meece (East Lansing, MI United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A couple of Aha Moments . . .

Arrived quickly, and I was very happy with how it looked!Things to note:- This takes a very small, 5V DC power supply, which is unusual to me.- It is an unsupported Google device = no Play app store, and still can't figure out how to get HBO GO to work on it, and can't get Facebook created app (unless someone tells me where else you can download it from!)- Has a very sensitive power button - last 3 times I've put it in my backpack for use at work, the power button has been hit in transit and I arrive with it drained and unusable. Could probably be remedied by buying a better case than by using the slipcover it comes with.- Back button often exits you out of something, rather than taking you to your last page/position.- Browser, while effective, does not have near the same functionality as the browser on my PC.- Browser feels slow to me, and it's annoying.Other things to note:- Sound quality was surprisingly good for... 4/5 nizzly - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) So far so good! Good value for the price

I came across this while initially searching for a quality MP3 player for my son that could maybe "do a little more". This mini wifi tablet seemed to offer so many additional features than a basic mp3 player without much more cost (and, if it works, will potentially provide many of the same features as larger tablets with much less cost!!) With no reviews anywhere yet to be found online, I took the gamble. So here's the initial review:I must say, so far I am quite pleased with my initial feature testing out of the box, before handing it over to my son. The size is nice - a little bigger than a phone but still easy to hold in one hand. Touch sensitivity is remarkably on point; sound quality with headphones is good (the mono external speaker does not get very loud but is sufficient for personal use). Video playback is clear. I was able to plug in & drag and drop songs from my iMac without issue. The camera/video is ok -- the microphone is mediocre but it will serve... 4/5 2under2 "patti89" (PA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Decent, but not amazing.

Let's start with the bad stuff...1. It can't charge while it's on. So if you want to use it and have it plugged in to charge, it won't work.2. Very slow. Web browsing with this thing is frustrating, and don't even consider the possibility of watching videos on it. I got netflix to work precisely once, and no other videos play on it for some reason. You'll find yourself furiously tapping things over and over again because it doesn't seem to be registering your actions, when it really is, it's just taking forever for it to respond.3. Bad contrast on the camera. Taking pictures/videos in anything other than a very well lit area will be almost impossible.4. An SD card is a MUST, more than 75% of the onboard memory is taken.5. No access to Google Play store, download Amazon Store or 1Mobile instead.6. Tiny screen and a very finite amount of zooming out make navigation on web pages and in files/folders a bitch.7. Short battery life, lasts maybe 3... 3/5 Jeffrey Warf - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) So on the one hand I've used a lot of touch screens, on the other, I can remember when you had to have a proprietary batter-powered stylus to use one. So to me, the touch screen seems pretty good, but I don't know how that will translate to others. It is a finger print magnet and picks up smudges like mad. It is perfectly adequate for e-book reading and playing simple android games... Read more Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 15, 2012

    A couple of Aha Moments . .

4/5 nizzly - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Lasted Nov 28, 2012 - Dec 12, 2012; then charging pin broke off.

Customer Video Review Length:: 8:27 MinsDecember 12, 2012.Forget all the nice things I had written and said about this tablet. While they all still might be true, it's all useless when the charging pin breaks off in the tablet with less than 1 month of use time. The moment I saw it, I knew that it could be trouble, but I convinced myself that I wouldn't have a problem with it because I'd be gentle each time I put the charging adapter in, or took it out. I'm left with a 60 dollar paperweight now, because since it won't charge up - I can't do a factory reset, and if I can't do a factory reset...well, I'm not going to send it back to get a refund.I tried with this device. I really did. I knew it was the best, or the greatest, or the most sleek. I found workarounds and compromises just to get AmazonApps to not crash. I even bought an on the go cable to see if I could hook up different peripherals.Well, I guess you live and you learn...I'm keeping the video up... 1/5 A. Too good to be true?

I've owned a few inexpensive Android tablets but I never got much use from them because the processor was either too slow or there was too little RAM. My desire was to purchase a tablet to use as an electronic "sketchpad" but these early Android tablets were just too crippled to be any good.I own an iPad2 which really is just a marvelous device. My biggest gripe is that Apple devices are tied to iTunes and the capacitive screen is designed for finger touch. Most iPad styluses have a fat nib which replicates your fingertip. I consider a stylus for drawing on a tablet to be a necessity (though I've certainly seen people create beautiful artwork on an iPad using only their finger as an input device). Drawing with a fat nib stylus is like drawing with a crayon or pastel stick. It's great for something more painterly but not great for tighter drawings created with a pencil or pen. When I found the Coby Kyros tablet, I was intrigued that the tablet could... 3/5 Pierre Fontaine "Pierre Fontaine" (Westchester County, NY) - See all my reviews, December 7, 2012

GREAT TABLET AT A GREAT PRICE

0 5/5 BP - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 4.0 4 GB Internet Tablet 16:9 Resistive Touchscreen, Black MID7034-4 (Personal Computers) I ORDERED THIS TABLET FOR MY GRANDSON FOR CHRISTMAS AFTER READING THE REVIEWS THAT I WOULD TAKE A CHANCE ON THIS DEVICE. IT ARRIVED YESTERDAY(TWO DAYS AFTER I ORDERED IT, WHICH WAS GREAT) IT COMES WITH A NICE SLEEVE, CLEANING CLOTH, CORD, ETC AND INSTRUCTION BOOKLET NICELY BOXED. SINCE THIS IS A GIFT FOR MY GRANDSON, I WANTED TO TRY IT OUT FIRST. IT WAS FULLY CHARGED OUT OF THE BX. THE SCREEN IS CLEAR, EASY TO READ WITH NO PROBLEMS. COMES LOADED WITH APPS. ALSO, THE SCREEN IS VERY RESPONSIVE TO SLIGHT TOUCH. I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD NEED A STYLET. IT IS LIGHT AND EASY TO HANDLE. I KNOW THAT MY GRANDSON WILL BE VERY EXCITED ON CHRISTMAS MORNING. I AM GLAD THAT I ORDERED THIS LITTLE TABLET AND I GOT MY MONEY'S WORTH. ANYONE WHO EXPECTS MORE SHOULD PROBABLY ORDER A MORE EXPENSIVE TABLET. WILL UPDATE THIS REVIEW IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER IT IS USED. NOTE: ORDERED AT AMAZON SO FAR, I GIVE IT FIVE STARS. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 20, 2012

    Did you know?

0 4/5 DG - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I bought 3 of these for my three grandaughters. You can install the amazon app store on it and get android apps that install easy and play very well. Amazon gives a paid app for free I believe daily. I was able to install apps like Angry birds on them for free and they work very well. I too, was impressed with this tablet, for the money it is a very good buy. I know it's not an IPad and I would not compare it to it either but, out of most budget tablets, this is one of the best. I played with each one for a while and watched videos online. I did not have any problems. The screen is resistive but yet i was able to scroll and type without the stylus unlike some others tablets that i tried out first.I did a lot of searches on the internet and compared many tablets in the same category.I also bought several and had to return them. For me, this was the winner. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 22, 2011

    great for the money

0 4/5 dcinindy - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I have had this for 3 weeks and am very satisfied with it. The get jar apps store is good, plus I downloaded the amazon store apps, kindle, and b&n nook. The speed is decent, connects to wi fi very easily, and works great as an e reader. It comes with headphones, mini usb to usb adapter, stylus, and protective sleeve. The sleeve is just that, fabric to slide tablet in to help protect screen etc. You can store the stylus in a holder on sleeve. I strongly recommend. A great entry level tablet. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 12, 2011

    Almost Perfect

I had thought and looked into getting an iPad or one of the other larger tablets, but realized that if I was going to spend that much money that I may as well by a laptop. Yeah, they look cool and all, and the number of 3rd party things for it are out there, but I realized that I really didn't want something that big in size. I wanted something that I could easily carry around, see what email I had awaiting for me to read at some point, could sit and read a book, and play a few games. I had looked at some other 7" tablets, but there was just something about them that just didn't give me the desire to buy them, then I came across this one. It's heavier than I expected, and takes longer to start than I would like, but it works for me.I have had no trouble connecting to wifi networks, the apps that I have added work great, going from portrait to landscape is quick, playing video from YouTube and elsewhere works fine, and I have even been able to make Skype calls with no... 4/5 St_Clinton "ecwjr" (Las Vegas, NV) - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 7-Inch Android 2.3 4 GB Internet Touchscreen Tablet - MID7012-4G (Black) (Personal Computers) I had thought and looked into getting an iPad or one of the other larger tablets, but realized that if I was going to spend that much money that I may as well by a laptop.
