Chasing the Wind

Creator: Jean Boileau | 2008-07-07

That evening after the cats had all been fed the caregiver came out with a cortisone tablet to give Coby. She worried about how fast his heart beat; it didn't seem normal. Was it the pill or was it simply part of the illness.

About this book
Caring comes with a price. Often times the price of compassion is that of exhaustion and sorrow but caring comes with joys and celebration; celebrations of lives saved.Chasing the Wind is a personal look into my life as a caregiver, the hardships, the joys, tears and inspirations helping feral cats and striving towards a more ethical and humane approach to caring for these beautiful felines.

Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. I was looking for a ten inch tab, but didn't have a lot of cash. I already have the Acer Iconia A-100, which is a great tablet. But i wanted a 10 incher. When i first got it, it ran fine but there was no Google App Store, bummer, So I got the Amazon App Store. everything was working fine but when I loaded Netflix it didn't work, the app loaded fine but the screen would just go blank. I called Coby Customer Service and they said it was a problems with Adobe flash not running right? Anyways, with Coby you actually get a live person however, you may not get one that knows anything. So i looked around on the internet and found that this is a problem with the tablet. I also found a solution. A tech advised to reboot the system and erase factory files. Here is the message ---- "Power the unit off (holding power buttom) and selecting Power off, then hold simultaneusly back button and on buttom 8 seconds, when the android icon appears... 5/5 Janowbi - See all my reviews This review is from: Coby Kyros 10.1-Inch Android 4.0 8 GB 16:9 Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen Widescreen Internet Tablet with Built-In Camera, Black MID1042-8 (Personal Computers) Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. great for certain things

This is for the 10" coby. I got it to replace the functions of an e-ink kindle. I wanted to be able to read books, surf some simple web pages, maybe check my e-mail and calendar, play some simple games. I liked the idea of a bigger screen that I could see page-size pdf (and maybe a comic book) on. It turns out that this tablet is fine for those needs. It actually seems made pretty well. The touch screen seems to work well - by way of comparison, I've had a couple of older tablet pc's, and older windows ce pda's, my wife has an older resistive touch 7" android, I have an android phone. So on the one hand I've used a lot of touch screens, on the other, I can remember when you had to have a proprietary batter-powered stylus to use one. So to me, the touch screen seems pretty good, but I don't know how that will translate to others. It is a finger print magnet and picks up smudges like mad. It is perfectly adequate for e-book reading and playing simple android games... 4/5 Darrell Meece (East Lansing, MI United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A couple of Aha Moments . . .

Arrived quickly, and I was very happy with how it looked!Things to note:- This takes a very small, 5V DC power supply, which is unusual to me.- It is an unsupported Google device = no Play app store, and still can't figure out how to get HBO GO to work on it, and can't get Facebook created app (unless someone tells me where else you can download it from!)- Has a very sensitive power button - last 3 times I've put it in my backpack for use at work, the power button has been hit in transit and I arrive with it drained and unusable. Could probably be remedied by buying a better case than by using the slipcover it comes with.- Back button often exits you out of something, rather than taking you to your last page/position.- Browser, while effective, does not have near the same functionality as the browser on my PC.- Browser feels slow to me, and it's annoying.Other things to note:- Sound quality was surprisingly good for... 4/5 nizzly - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) OK. From what I could find, as far as reviews go, on the Internet, about this unit, the little available was basically worthless for making any kind of informative opinion as to whether this item would be a good buy.So, after researching what I could of the various Android OS Internet Tablets out there (most with terrible reviews of hardware issues), and considering the purchase price, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Coby unit. I was at first leary of buying something of this nature which is made by Coby, a manufacturer of basically cheap, low end electronics.I purchased this unit (K-Mart, $149.95(save $30) in 12/12/10 - 12/19/10 AD - I also bought an additional year replacement contract for under $18 - a good idea on new electronics!), and immediately plugged it in to charge the battery (it notified of full charge after 1-1/2 hours). I decided to play with the unit a little, since I could not resist. Keep things in context, this is a $150 tablet, not a $700 iPad

--------------UPDATE----------------So five months after i bought the Coby 7015, it still goes strong. It has this annoying sleep/wake thing if you dont turn it off that drains the batteries, and occasionally i have to reset it, but once again for the price i can not give it less than 5 stars. However, i recently recieved the Acer A500 tablet (roughly 450 bucks) and i have to say it absolutly kills the Coby tablet in terms of performance in every aspect, the thing is awesome and an absolute joy to use. At 4 times the price that is to be expected, but if you can squeeze out the extra $300 or so, there are some darn good tablets coming out right now that are excellent alternatives to the iPad.------------------------------Review of Coby 7015 Tablet.I got one of these as a 10 year anniversary gift from my company. I probably would have never bought one otherwise. All in all, i think this is an awesome little device for what it... 5/5 Chris R. Be smart, research anything you purchase before setting expectations

The problem most negative reviewers have here, is what so many others run into before buying something with hopes and expectations. Simply put, you have to do your homework before purchasing anything in order to keep from getting let down by false hopes. I have 3 of these coming in the mail for my kiddo's, and spent about 4 to 5 days researching all of the current Android tablets available in this price range before picking anything. Out of all devices under $200, this Kryos has the best performance, and hardware options available. There are a few that run right up there with it, but still cost $30 or more per unit.I already know what to expect as the positives and negatives of these devices, primarily the resistive screens that are not as nice as our Moto Driod's Etc. But with facts in hand, the tons of functionality they offer, and the extremely low price tag, I was very comfortable purchasing three of these as Christmas gifts for my loved ones.If you have... 5/5 J. Works well for what I bought it for...

So far I really like this tablet. I chose it over the Samsung because external reviews were good and I valued the larger size 10" tablet over the smaller size 7" more popular brand. The 10" Samsung was way more expensive. It works well. It has been very easy to figure out how to maneuver. The camera is only 2 mega pixel so I wouldn't use it for quality pics instead of my digital camera but it is handy to have. There were plenty of apps to download for free. Most of which I added so my 5 year old nephew could play games on it. I will mainly use it to connect to the internet for facebook and e-mail when out of town. It is wi-fi only but many places have free wi-fi now. However it said that the following items were included but they were not: USB host/keyboard adapter, stereo headphones. The headphones I really don't care about at all. But I ordered a case w/keyboard that was recommended and am not able to use it because the keyboard has full size USB... 4/5 Linda Scantlin - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not a high-end tablet pc, but good for the money

Keep in mind, the Coby Kyros MID1024 is not an iPad or Xoom, but for the price, it gets the job done. The factory installed apps library is a little lacking (it does not have access to the Google Android Marketplace without rooting - which voids warranty). I was able to manually install the Amazon Marketplace on it, which added a lot of options, including a Kindle App, making for a very nice e-reader! Some things are awkwardly laid out and a bit clumsy until you get it the way you want it to be customized with the home screen shortcuts, etc; it occasionally crashes and has to be restarted; but for half the price of the big names, it holds its own as a very functional 10 inch tablet. It has nice touch response. For wi-fi Internet browsing and e-reading, it gets the job done very nicely for the price.Added 12/22/11: With the roll out of the Kindle Fire, Amazon's App Marketplace is growing daily. Surprised big time. Worth the money.

I just tested one of these and was able to quickly install Android Market, Adobe Flash, Netflix, and a bunch of other apps. All of the applications that I installed work well and this tablet is NOT slow. I am very pleased with the performance so far. I have used an iPad2 extensively before testing a Coby Kyros 1024. For the money you can't beat the Coby Kyros 1024 with the capacitive multi-touch screen. Sure the iPad2 is awesome but not for $500+. The Kyros is priced right and actually very easy to use. For those that are griping about the screen, turn up the screen brightness, the setting is under "Settings". I was also about to gripe about the screen but I discovered the setting was set to absolute low. Just spend a little time on getting to know the Kyros user interface Android 2.2. If you already have an Android phone you should have no problems. I've been testing the Kyros for 2 days and have figured out just about everything concerning navigating the tablet and... 4/5 Michael L. Best value for the money out there

I bought this to replace another 7-inch android tablet that broke when it was sat on. That tablet had no brand name, and I had identified a few things I would improve about it if I were to replace it. I did not anticipate having to replace it when I did, but the list of requirements did enable me to narrow down my tablet choices significantly.I wanted a faster processor. At least a dual core, if not quad core. I wanted a better, higher-resolution screen. I wanted bluetooth connectivity. And most importantly, I wanted better battery life. And I wanted all of this for under $200. I got all those and more with this replacement tablet. My choices were narrowed down to this tablet, the Samsung galaxy tab 2 7" wifi, and the nexus 7. The nexus 7 fell out early on when I realized it did not have a micro-sd card slot. Moreover, the tablet would end up costing me more than $200 including taxes and shipping if I bought it from Google. The Samsung tablet had... 4/5 Balaji Ramanathan "balajithegreat" (hoffman estates, il United States) - See all my reviews, April 16, 2013

It was a cheap 7 inch with Android 2 point-something-or-other that I got for about $80.00. I figured he'd toss it around a bit and quickly break it. I was very wrong. It actually ended up being a valuable learning tool -- even though the available applications were VERY limited due to the absence of Google certification. What truly amazed me was the build quality.
