Best value for the money out there

I bought this to replace another 7-inch android tablet that broke when it was sat on. That tablet had no brand name, and I had identified a few things I would improve about it if I were to replace it. I did not anticipate having to replace it when I did, but the list of requirements did enable me to narrow down my tablet choices significantly.I wanted a faster processor. At least a dual core, if not quad core. I wanted a better, higher-resolution screen. I wanted bluetooth connectivity. And most importantly, I wanted better battery life. And I wanted all of this for under $200. I got all those and more with this replacement tablet. My choices were narrowed down to this tablet, the Samsung galaxy tab 2 7" wifi, and the nexus 7. The nexus 7 fell out early on when I realized it did not have a micro-sd card slot. Moreover, the tablet would end up costing me more than $200 including taxes and shipping if I bought it from Google. The Samsung tablet had... 4/5 Balaji Ramanathan (hoffman estates, il United States) - See all my reviews, April 16, 2013

    EXCELLENT TABLET!!!

I love this tablet - period.I purchased this tablet a few days ago for my son -- and kept it for myself!!! I started using it and couldn't put it down, so I just ordered him another one, which will arrive in a few days.-- MY COBY PASTI first bought a Coby tablet two years ago for my son's first birthday. It was a cheap 7 inch with Android 2 point-something-or-other that I got for about $80.00. I figured he'd toss it around a bit and quickly break it. I was very wrong. It actually ended up being a valuable learning tool -- even though the available applications were VERY limited due to the absence of Google certification. What truly amazed me was the build quality. Excellent tablet for the price!

I've owned two other tablets in the past two years. An off-brand one with an All-Winner A10 board in it, and a Uniden tablet (Same tablet as the Polaroid PMID705) The generic tablet was okay but as I shortly found out, its near impossible to get parts for. I paid 120 bucks for it and after a week it got broken (The charger tip got shoved up inside and busted the powerjack). It felt cheap anyway. The Uniden tablet was nice. No complaints but it had a single core processor and 512ram with no additional storage so unless you had an Micro SD card it all had to be saved on the tablet thus taking up half of them from the start. But it was only 60 bucks so I can't complain. But I finally decided I wanted a decent tablet that ran games good, and browsed the web without lag. And this Coby tablet was going to be my choice. From the second I turned it on I was won-over. It booted up fast. It had a fast response time to doing stuff. I could leave 10 apps open and still... 5/5 Charles E. Hughes (Franklin, New Jersey United States) - See all my reviews, March 30, 2013

    I am so pissed.

Hello everyone to those who reads this commentary. First off, I would like to note that this tablet is very, very fragile. The first time we brought one, it was for our son for a Christmas gift. That broke within 2 weeks, because he dropped it from the leather couch to a plush carpet, and then the screen shattered...on a carpet floor. we figured with the second one, it shouldn't be that serious...yeah, right. The second tablet was purchased on February 16th; unfortunately he went on punishment towards the beginning of April, where he wasn't able to use it until yesterday (last day of school). I charged the tablet for him, and he uses it, but once the battery died out, he couldn't charge it on his own charger. I have a secondary charger my own, so I go ahead and charge it in that small pin area overnight. this morning, I go to check it, and the damn charger port has broken inside of the tablet. my teenager hasn't even had a chance to use it within two months, if that. This is... 1/5 tierekisa (Hampton, VA, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A relatively good tablet given the price

I've had my Coby Kyros for a few days and I am very happy with it. It works great for videos, ebooks, email, and websites. It's size is also perfect for travelling. However, I have had a few problems.1. The app store is GetJar. I don't like the selection of apps on GetJar so this was the biggest issue I had with the tablet. If you are willing to void your warranty, you can find instructions online for gaining root access and installing third-part app stores. But, there a risk of breaking the tablet. Fortunately, I think that most people will find GetJar sufficient for their needs.2. Certain apps have occasionally caused my tablet to freeze. This requires using a paper-clip or pin to push the reset button on the backside of the tablet. It's annoying, but since it rarely occurs, and only with certain apps, it's a relatively minor issue in my opinion. I have a friend who also has this tablet and has never had an issue with it freezing.3. It doesn't have... 4/5 Eli - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. I was looking for a ten inch tab, but didn't have a lot of cash. I already have the Acer Iconia A-100, which is a great tablet. But i wanted a 10 incher. When i first got it, it ran fine but there was no Google App Store, bummer, So I got the Amazon App Store. everything was working fine but when I loaded Netflix it didn't work, the app loaded fine but the screen would just go blank. I called Coby Customer Service and they said it was a problems with Adobe flash not running right? Anyways, with Coby you actually get a live person however, you may not get one that knows anything. So i looked around on the internet and found that this is a problem with the tablet. I also found a solution. A tech advised to reboot the system and erase factory files. great for certain things

This is for the 10" coby. I got it to replace the functions of an e-ink kindle. I wanted to be able to read books, surf some simple web pages, maybe check my e-mail and calendar, play some simple games. I liked the idea of a bigger screen that I could see page-size pdf (and maybe a comic book) on. It turns out that this tablet is fine for those needs. It actually seems made pretty well. The touch screen seems to work well - by way of comparison, I've had a couple of older tablet pc's, and older windows ce pda's, my wife has an older resistive touch 7" android, I have an android phone. So on the one hand I've used a lot of touch screens, on the other, I can remember when you had to have a proprietary batter-powered stylus to use one. So to me, the touch screen seems pretty good, but I don't know how that will translate to others. It is a finger print magnet and picks up smudges like mad. It is perfectly adequate for e-book reading and playing simple android games... 4/5 Darrell Meece (East Lansing, MI United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Basic but functional

As an inexpensive tablet the Coby Kyros 10'1 and 7"is adequate but not as functional as I expected. The Android Ice Cream platform will not allow you to access Google apps play store and does not recognize the device. It's almost deceiving that it's [resented as Android when you can't run Android apps because of the different platform. It's not an isolated case as I also purchased the 7" version and I can not download the face book apps that run through google play store which are touted as Android Apps. As far as speed and surfing, it's efficient however again, since the tablet platform is unrecognized you will be limited on what mobile apps you can download for instance Iheart radio app, Zynga etc., even websites that stream audio. I accessed a local radio station that broadcasts live. It didn't work with these tablets and pops up as device not recognized or supported. If you want a basic surfing and email device with games that will function on this platform buy it. 4/5 Darcy (Denison, Iowa, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: AC Adapter For COBY Kyros MID7015 Internet Tablet Wall Charger Power Supply Cord (Electronics) It is working fine. No problems with it so far.... I am a bit concerned though as the cord seems to be coming loose a bit at the base.... I will put some electrical tape on there to protect it, but after a few weeks I don't think it should be coming apart?? I have used it gently. ? Over all it is what it is. It charges my tablet.
