About this book
Beginning Android Tablet Programmingstarts off by showing how to get your system ready for Android tablet programming. You won't need any previous Android experience, because you'll learn all about the basic structure of an Android program and how the Android operating system works-and then you'll learn how to write your first Android tablet application from scratch! Beginning Android Tablet Programmingthen equips you to build a set of interesting and fully-working Android tablet applications. These projects will give you the inspiration and insights to build your own Android programs in the future. You'll be introduced to 2D programming, and you'll see what you can do with a touch screen interface and the Honeycomb SDK. Of course, 3D programming is even more alluring for many programmers. If that includes you, you'll learn about how Honeycomb has changed the game for Android graphics programming, and get your first taste of 3D programming on an Android tablet. Lights, camera, action! You'll learn along the way how Android Honeycomb gives you access, through your programming, to all those interesting sensors that tablet computers are equipped with today-beyond the touch screen itself. You'll learn, for example, how you to use a tablet GPS sensor to locate your car! You'll also discover how you can access files on your tablet-or on the web-through programming, and then build on that insight to create your own file browser application. This Android project contains many useful coding techniques appropriate for many situations you might encounter in your future programming Android tablet applications; you'll be glad to have them under your belt. So do you want to write programs that can receive and send reminder messages via SMS? Do you want to write your first 2D or 3D game on Android? Overall a good tablet PC with fast internet speed

0 4/5 Craig Patterson - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: NeuTab® N7 Pro 7'' Quad Core Google Android 4.4 KitKat Tablet PC, HD 1024X600 Display, Bluetooth, Dual Camera, Google Play Pre-loaded, 3D-Game Supported (Black) (Personal Computers) This is the second time I purchased this tablet. I usually use this for web browsing and this tablet made my day. The internet speed is fast even though it is connected to WIFI. 7 inches screen is big enough for me since I use iPhone4S and it is way bigger than my phone screen.... The camera has font and rear facing just like an smart phone. It also come with some handful apps which I haven't have a chance to play with. Well, I don't do a lot of things with a Tablet PC, just web browsing and watch some videos/movies and that's it. I kind of like this tablet so far. Thanks. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 3, 2015

    Know what you're buying.

0 4/5 Dawn Rotundo - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: HP 8 G2-1411 8-Inch 16 GB Tablet (Personal Computers) There aren't many reviews on this tablet so I figured I would write one. When buying this tablet you need to know what you're getting. This isn't a power house. It's meant for pretty standard use and it's not going to do anything amazing. It is a great tablet for the price tho and it gets the job done. What I like :- The Price. It's very affordable and can fit into most budgets.- The screen is pretty decent for a device that only costs $150.- it's light and portable and doesn't feel like a burden to carry around from place to place.- It has a micro SD slot and it will definitely help with storage. What I don't like :- The camera is just horrific. But then again, what do you expect from a tablet at this price?- There's some lag, it's not to bad but it's noticeable.- You have to pry off a panel on the back to get to the micro SD slot and it will probably break over time. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 7, 2015

    I returned it

I really wanted to like this tablet, but I ended up returning it. I *love* this form factor. It is what I think a tablet should be. I have an iPad Mini I'm trying to phase out to get away from ios even though I love the Mini's form factor. The Google Nexus 9 is just too much money in my opinion for what you are getting. The only other current Android offerings in this form factor are the really cheap no-names you see in some of the brick-and-mortar stores for $80 and this HP. So I bought this even though I couldn't find a single review for it in hopes it would work.On the good side, it has a decent screen for $150. It is a great size. It's pretty much running vanilla Android and there is almost no bloatware on it to disable. It has an SD card slot which is something I still value in tablets and phones. It's processor and memory are mediocre. Some things lag a bit. I installed Temple Run: Oz and it was playable, but the graphics were a bit rough. Beautiful tablet for the price

We bought one for our son because his iPad (the original) was too outdated to do much. I wanted to switch to an Android because it makes it easier to integrate accounts and apps with our PCs and my google account. Also, the Apple chargers are cheaply made and we've spent a small fortune replacing them the past couple of years, so I was looking forward to standard micro USB chargers (I have no shortage of micro USB cables). I wasn't so sure about this tablet after reading mixed reviews, but the price was right and the specs were what I was looking for...I want one for myself. It's fast, it's easy to use, the graphics and video quality are simply gorgeous. It's surprisingly light and the size is perfect for slipping into the front of a pack back. My hubby has a different brand tablet and this one beats it by a mile! I'm so pleased with the purchase. I appreciate that the volume and power buttons are recessed from the edge, so you don't turn it off or change volume when you... 5/5 Kelda - See all my reviews This review is from: HP 8 G2-1411 8-Inch 16 GB Tablet (Personal Computers) We bought one for our son because his iPad (the original) was too outdated to do much. Pretty awesome for the price.

I recently got this tablet from a different site but really wanted to review it here where more people would see it. For the price, this thing is awesome. For me it's selling points were that it is a dual core tablet running Android KitKat and it is Google Certified and has Google play. Its also nice that Astro comes from California.I mostly use this tablet to check my email, browse the web, play some simple games (Ruzzle, Luminosity, Two Dots) and I take it to job sites where I'm not worried about it getting scratched or damaged. Its really the primary reason for having this tablet for me; I don't have to worry about it. Its not a prized heirloom or a piece of jewelry. If you've ever owned an iPad or a Samsung Tablet you know the case and screen protector for those tablets cost as much OR more than this entire tablet itself. The Astro 712 gives me peace of mind that if it was stolen I could get a new one for the price of two movie tickets, a bucket of popcorn and... 4/5 Minh Nguyen "Visual Design, Photography and B...
