BEWARE: some good and some bad versions from different sellers

    Incorrectly sized connector fits loosely

0 2/5 Stephenk - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: SANOXY Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter (Electronics) I ordered two of these for 0.70 each. The micro USB connector is sized strangely, it's about twice as long as it should be, and the actually width of the connector is slightly smaller than typical. The effect is a very loose, wobbly connection. It does work, however, and for the price I paid I'm satisfied. The problem is that it's just not very secure. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 28, 2012

Using the OTG adapter with my XOOM (ICS) is as easy as plugging the micro-USB end into the tablet's port and then connecting... whatever into the USB receptacle at the other end. Given the super-low price, getting the adapter is a no-brainer.So far, I've done the following successfuly:- Attached a flash drive, played video, music off it (very nice).- Connected a keyboard. A little awkward because of all the wiring but it works.- Connected a memory card reader and browsed through the photos stored there.- Attached a USB hub and was able to access the flash drive and the memory card reader. This worked well on my XOOM and friends using a Galaxy Tab and an Acer Iconia Tab 500 told me that it worked with their tablets as well. At this price, it's worth a try but keep in mind that it may take 'forever' or 3-4 weeks rather for you to get it. It took mine about 4 weeks to arrive.____________________________________________... 5/5 A. Dent "Aragorn" (Minas Anor, GD) - See all my reviews, July 20, 2012

Responsible for the greatest defeat in cell phone history

It's no secret in the world of smartphones that Android and Iphone are competing for world domination. It's also common in my little area of the world for individuals that carry one or the other to walk around with an air of superiority and a certainty that their device is the best and their OS is supreme. In my office, we are split about 50/50 on this debate and the fans of the Iphone get a lot more ribbing for being "Apple Fanboys" than they deserve. It's all in good fun though, well, it was until Ryan threw his Iphone 4s across the office in frustration. The adaptor here is responsible for the whole thing. In typical office shenanigans we had spent several weeks trying to destroy some free goods we'd received from one of our vendors. In this case it was an inflatable basketball. No matter how hard we tried to squish or jump on this thing, we could not get it to pop. It was indestructible free crap from china. This review is from: Black 4-Port High Speed USB 2.0 Hub (Personal Computers) Me and a friend of mine got one, and we are sad to say, it was a waste of money. It's not high-speed, it can't hold more than one thing with transfer without canceling everything out. For example: I had my Logitech Headset plugged inside it, and had my PSP USB Cable in the slot next to it. I went to transfer something off my memory stick, (Which by the way was EXTREMELY slow) and when I exited USB mode, it canceled out my headset too! Do not buy this, honestly! This review is from: StarTech.com 5in Micro USB to USB OTG Host Adapter - Micro USB Male to USB A Female On-The-GO Host Cable Adapter (Personal Computers) I purchased this product for my Samsung Galaxy S4 so that I could dock a flash drive to my smart phone. Works like a charm. Just for fun I connected the USB receiver for my wireless keyboard and mouse, both devices work great (typing this review on my S4 using my Logitech wireless keyboard and this USB OTG cable). No setup, no app to download, user friendly, highly recommended. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 16, 2013

A speed/range upgrade for an older computer on a wireless n network

When you need a wireless connection - or a faster one for cheap! This review is written for non-technical people about improving the speed of their wireless access or getting on a laptop that does not have the capacity built in - For very little money! It reviews the utility of these devices and specifically discusses the features of this Netgear WN111v.2 Wireless-(draft-n) Adapter.More and more people own laptop/notebook or the newer and even smaller "netbooks." The idea is pretty straight forward. A computer that is portable and can easily be taken from place to place, unlike our traditional desktop-type computers that are secured by both the sheer mass as well as by the multitude of wired connections they usually require to one place. The evolution of portable technology led to what we call, descriptively, "wireless" connections. There are connections to wireless system that do not require wired connections. What they DO require is a wireless... 5/5 D. Great addition to home WiFi

I chose Netgear because I have a Netgear router, and I thought it might be better matched than another brand. I installed the booster software while using an ethernet connection. I let the installer check for online updates, and all went well.My laptop no long gets dropped signals from my Netgear router, and connection speed has increased from 54 Mbps to 130 or more Mbps. I can also see several more WiFi networks than before. The chubby booster blocks the neighboring USB ports, so I put the booster on an extension cable. That has the added benefit of letting me move the booster to obtain the maximum signal.Note: My modem and router are next to the TV and stereo receiver, and the router is hardwired to the iPod dock and Roku video box. When the TV and sound system were turned on and my husband used the remotes, my wireless computer would get dropped Internet signals. By attaching a long extension cable to the booster, I was able to put the booster up... 5/5 trlamb (Portland, OR USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: NETGEAR WN111 Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter (Personal Computers) I chose Netgear because I have a Netgear router, and I thought it might be better matched than another brand. Cheap and you get what you pay for.

0 1/5 Andrew - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Home Wall 2 Port AC Outlet USB Charger Adapter Plug (Wireless Phone Accessory) I bought a couple of these for charging my Droid X and a Bluetooth headset at the same time. The phone's performance would drop dramatically while it was connected to this charger. So I grabbed my multimeter to check the charger's output. The +5VDC pin was putting out 5.15 volts which is well inside the 4.75-5.25 USB scecification so no trouble there. I noticed that they did have intact data pins so I checked them. Both of the data pins produced +2.54 V on both of the chargers I received. Different devices will deal with this voltage in different ways, but had I known I would never have plugged my phone into it. Too damn risky. This is clearly a design flaw and an incredibly simple one at that, all they need to do is not hookup the data pins.I wouldn't recommend these, but after disabling the data pins I am now using mine. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 11, 2011

    Inexpensive and works!!

0 5/5 Sunshine (CT) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Home Wall 2 Port AC Outlet USB Charger Adapter Plug (Wireless Phone Accessory) I bought this item so I could charge my 3rd Gen iPod touch without having to plug it into my laptop or having to spend $30 on a genuine Apple one. I am happy with this one..it's cheap and it works...I really don't care about using namebrand stuff as long as the generic stuff works. I have no problems with compatibility with my iPod. I do not own an iPhone or an iPad so I cannot rate its compatibility with those items. Botton line...if you're looking for an inexpensive option to charge your iPod..go with this! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 10, 2010

0 4/5 Andy C. "Gamer Geek" (Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: SANOXY® USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor (Electronics) Works as advertised. What people find confusing about adapters are which male/female sides they need for their cable that they want to adapt. Just remember, male goes inside female (or, female is on top of male :).USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor means:1) The adapter's USB 2.0 side is female and connects to a male cable (male cables can plug directly into your computer's USB port).2) The adapter's Micro USB side is male and connects to a female port (digital camera, MP3 player, smart phone, etc.).3) So, if you have a USB cable that can plug into your computer on both ends, it's a male/male cable and this adapter is for you. One end of the USB cable plugs into your computer, the other end plugs into the adapter, and the adapter plugs into the device. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 19, 2010

This one IS an OTG adapter

I like this adapter. I bought it for my Archos A70S Internet Tablet. It works well in OTG (USB On The Go) mode, allowing the tablet to work as a USB host. This means you can plug other USB devices to the tablet through it, such as cameras and USB sticks, and the Archos can browse their contents. One thing to note is that the adapter consists of a single piece with both the male microUSB port (the one that plugs into the Archos) and the female USB A port (the standard USB port your computer has). This means that any mechanical stress on the female connector may be transmitted straight through to the tablet. I've had no issues so far, and I'm not implying this is a problem with this particular adapter, but you do have to be careful using this type of adapter. Ideally, you'll want to plug the adapter to the device you want to connect to your tablet first, and then plug the assembly into the tablet, in order to exert as little physical force as possible on the tablet... 5/5 Ramon Jimenez - See all my reviews, April 25, 2011

universal, serial, bus, usb, specification,
Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a specification[1] to establish communication between devices and a host controller (usually personal computers), developed and invented by Ajay Bhatt while working for Intel.[2][3] USB is intended to replace many varieties of serial and parallel ports. USB can connect computer peripherals such as mice, keyboards, digital cameras, printers, personal media players, flash drives, Network Adapters, and external hard drives. For many of those devices, USB has become the standard connection method.

usb, connection, computer, internet, data,
USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an industry standard developed in the mid-1990s that defines the cables, connectors and protocols used for connection, communication and power supply between computers and electronic devices. USB was designed to standardise the connection of computer peripherals, such as keyboards, pointing devices, digital cameras, printers, portable media players, disk drives and network adapters to personal computers, both to communicate and to supply electric power. It has become commonplace on other devices, such as smartphones, PDAs and video game consoles. USB has effectively replaced a variety of earlier interfaces, such as serial and parallel ports, as well as separate power chargers for portable devices. As of 2008, about 2 billion USB devices were sold each year, and approximately 6 billion devices have been sold in total.
